Welcome...
W
elcome to the fourth edition
of the Ultimate Guide to
the BlackBerry.
Whenwe published the fi rst guide,we
knew therewas a thirst for BlackBerry
knowledge – and, asyou can probably
tell by the factwe’re now onversion four,
that appetite shows no sign of abating
anytime soon.
Whatwas once a business-centric, high-
end device has evolved into a multifaceted
portfolio of devices, solutions and apps
aimed at everyone from the budget-
conscious consumer, teenager and busy
parent to high-flying corporatewhizzkid
and everyone inbetween.
Over theyears, BlackBerry users in
theirvarious guises have asked – and, it
would seem, RIM has been listening and
responding. We’ve enjoyed a plethora of
device launches and the unveiling of a
BlackBerry-specific app store.
In addition to smartphones past and
present,we now also have a new device
form factor known as the PlayBook. It’s
still early days for this device – sowe don’t
want to be drawn, justyet, into judging
whether itwill be a success or failure – but
it’s clear the tablet market is only just
hotting up. Competitive now? You haven’t
seen anythingyet.
Sowhat next for RIM and the
BlackBerry family? Based onwhat has
already been created, it’s exciting to
imaginewhat is on the horizon.
Whetheryou’re a seasoned BlackBerry
user, just boughtyour fi rst device or are
thinking about getting one and need
information to helpyou decidewhich
handset is foryou,we hopeyouwill fi nd
this guidevery useful.
Thanks for reading.
